Discord server template

Discord server template for streamers

A streamer’s Discord keeps the community together between streams. It has to do three things well: tell people when you go live without spamming everyone, give regulars and subscribers somewhere to hang out, and let your mod team handle chat when you are busy streaming. This layout covers all three and gives subscribers their own space.

Who this template is for

  • Twitch, YouTube and Kick streamers with a regular schedule
  • Creators who want a subscriber-only area linked to their platform
  • Small streamers building a community before they grow

If you are a team or org with several creators, start from the esports template. Gaming groups without a creator at the centre should use the gaming template.

Channels and categories

Every channel, its purpose and who can post. Read-only and private channels are set up with the right permission overwrites, so you do not have to configure them by hand.

Why it is laid out this way

going-live
Go-live posts live in their own read-only channel and mention only the opt-in Live Ping role. Pinging @everyone for every stream is the fastest way to get your server muted.
stream-chat
A 3-second slowmode keeps live reactions fast without letting one person flood the channel during hype moments.
Subscribers
The whole category is hidden from non-subscribers. When you connect Twitch or YouTube, Discord adds a managed subscriber role; give that role the same access as Subscriber and it updates on its own when someone subscribes or lapses.
Watch Party
Everyone can join and listen; only the streamer, mods and VIPs can talk. It works like a stage channel without needing Community mode.
self-promo
A 6-hour slowmode allows one post per person per session, which keeps the channel useful instead of a link dump.

Roles and permissions

Roles are listed from highest to lowest. Member and ping roles carry no extra permissions because @everyone already has Discord's defaults. Check any role in the permissions calculator.

Server rules

Posted to #rules when you build with Discrofy, or copy them.

  1. Be kind to each other and the streamer

No harassment, hate speech or drama. Disagreements stay civil, and the community is not a place to pile on anyone.

  2. No spoilers or backseating

Do not spoil games the streamer is playing, and do not give tips unless they ask. Spoiler tags (||like this||) are required for new releases.

  3. Keep it streamable

No NSFW, gore or shock content. Assume anything you post could appear on stream.

  4. No self-promotion outside #self-promo

Do not post your own channel, socials or links anywhere else, or in DMs to members. One post per day in #self-promo.

  5. Respect privacy

Do not share personal information about the streamer, mods or members, including where they live or their real names if not public.

  6. Clips must be credited

Share clips in #clips with the original link. Do not repost clips to other platforms as your own.

  7. Mods decide

Mods act on the streamer’s behalf. If you disagree with a decision, message a mod privately instead of arguing in chat.

  8. Follow Discord and platform rules

Follow the Discord Community Guidelines and the terms of the platform the stream is on.

Welcome message and onboarding

**Hey {user}, welcome to the community!** 💜

Grab the **Live Ping** role in #get-roles to know when the stream starts.
Schedule: #schedule
Rules: #rules

Subscribed on Twitch? Link your account in Discord settings > Connections and you’ll get the subscriber role automatically.
  1. Connect Twitch or YouTube in Server Settings > Integrations. Discord creates a managed subscriber role; open the Subscribers category permissions and give that role View Channel.
  2. Set up a go-live notifier to post in #going-live and mention Live Ping only.
  3. Add Live Ping to Onboarding so new members can opt in when they join.
  4. Give your stream chat mods the Moderator role so the same team covers both places.

Moderation and AutoMod

Discord AutoMod rules to turn on

  • Block common scam phrases ("free nitro", "steam gift", "claim your prize") and send the alert to #mod-log.
  • Block invite links outside #self-promo by adding the channel as an exception.
  • Turn on mention spam protection at 5 mentions: raids often follow a big stream.
  • Add the streamer’s real name or address keywords, if they are private, to a block list.

How to moderate it

  • Raise the verification level temporarily after a big raid or viral clip.
  • Keep moderation consistent with stream chat: a ban on Twitch for harassment should mean a ban here.
  • Let mods handle Discord during the stream; the streamer should not have to moderate while live.
  • Review #stream-ideas weekly and react to the ones you will do so people see their ideas matter.

Recommended server settings

Verification levelMedium, High during raidsRaids follow attention; raise it when a clip goes viral.
Explicit media filterFilter for all membersAnything posted could end up on stream.
OnboardingOn, with Live Ping as an optionMost members want notifications; asking up front gets more opt-ins.

Suggested bots

  • Discrofy: Builds this layout and manages AutoMod, moderation and analytics from a dashboard.
  • Discord’s Twitch or YouTube integration: Gives linked subscribers a managed role. Built into Discord, no bot needed.
  • A go-live notifier: Posts in #going-live when the stream starts and pings Live Ping.

Build it in about a minute

Discrofy creates every category, channel, role and permission above in your server, then posts the rules. It only adds, so existing channels are kept, and you can undo the build from your dashboard. Your first build each month is free.

Frequently asked questions

How do subscribers get access to the subscriber channels?+

Connect Twitch or YouTube under Server Settings > Integrations. Discord then gives a managed role to members who link their account and are subscribed. Allow that role to view the Subscribers category and access follows their subscription automatically.

Why is there no stage channel?+

Stage channels need Community mode turned on. The Watch Party voice channel gives the same listen-only effect with permissions, so the template works on any server.

Should I ping @everyone when I go live?+

No. Use an opt-in role like Live Ping. People who want notifications get them, and everyone else does not mute your server.

Does this work for YouTube or Kick streamers?+

Yes. The layout is platform-neutral. Only the subscriber integration differs: YouTube has a built-in Discord integration; for Kick, use a bot that syncs subscribers to a role.
