Discord server template

Business Discord server template

A business or product community has different goals from a hangout server. Customers come for support and news, so those need to be the easiest things to find, and your team needs private space that customers can never stumble into. This layout puts announcements, the changelog and status first, routes support into one channel, collects feedback in a structured way and keeps a paying-customer area behind a role.

Who this template is for

  • SaaS products and apps with a user community
  • Brands and online shops that want a customer community
  • Agencies, consultants and course creators with clients

If your community is mostly fans hanging out with a creator, the streamer or community template feels less formal. Internal company chat is usually better in a workplace tool.

Channels and categories

Every channel, its purpose and who can post. Read-only and private channels are set up with the right permission overwrites, so you do not have to configure them by hand.

Why it is laid out this way

status
A read-only status channel cuts duplicate "is it down?" support posts during incidents. Post there first, then link it in #support.
support
One support channel with a pinned format beats several product-area channels until you have a dedicated support team. Escalate privately in #support-escalations.
feature-requests
A 10-minute slowmode and one-idea-per-message rule keep requests reactable and countable, so you can see what is actually popular.
Customers
Hidden from everyone without the Customer role. Give it by hand, through a license-key bot or through your checkout integration.
Team
Private to staff. Customers cannot see the category at all, so internal discussion and escalations stay internal.

Roles and permissions

Roles are listed from highest to lowest. Member and ping roles carry no extra permissions because @everyone already has Discord's defaults. Check any role in the permissions calculator.

Server rules

Posted to #rules when you build with Discrofy, or copy them.

  1. Be professional and respectful

Treat customers, staff and other members with respect. No harassment, hate speech or personal attacks.

  2. Support goes in #support

Post questions there so the team can track them. Please do not DM staff for support.

  3. Never share private data in public

Do not post order numbers, emails, invoices, passwords or API keys in public channels. Staff will never ask for your password.

  4. No spam or unsolicited promotion

No ads, affiliate links, cold sales pitches or DMing members to sell to them.

  5. Feedback is welcome, abuse is not

Criticism helps us improve. Insults, threats and repeated off-topic complaints will be removed.

  6. Beware of impersonators

Staff have the Team role. Anyone else offering refunds, giveaways or account help in DMs is a scammer: report them.

  7. Keep it on topic

Use the right channel. #lounge is for general chat.

  8. Follow Discord’s rules

Follow the Discord Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.

Welcome message and onboarding

**Welcome, {user}!** 👋

This is the official community for our product.

• Need help? Post in #support (please don’t DM the team).
• Latest releases: #changelog
• Something down? Check #status.
• Customer? See #start-here to unlock the customer lounge.

Our team will never DM you first asking for a password or payment.
  1. Write #start-here with links to docs, pricing and how customers get verified.
  2. Decide how customers get the Customer role: by hand, a license-key bot or your checkout provider.
  3. Pin a support format in #support and a template in #bug-reports.
  4. Schedule monthly office hours in the Office Hours voice channel and post them in #events.

Moderation and AutoMod

Discord AutoMod rules to turn on

  • Block phrases scammers use to impersonate support: "support ticket", "refund team", "DM me for help", "wallet".
  • Block invite links and unknown links outside #showcase.
  • Add a custom regex for API key formats your product uses so leaked keys are blocked before others see them.
  • Block mention spam at 5 unique mentions.

How to moderate it

  • Answer #support within a published time, for example one working day, and say so in #start-here.
  • Move private issues (billing, accounts) to email or a ticket quickly. Never ask for passwords.
  • Close the loop on feature requests: post in #changelog when a request ships and credit the member.
  • Remove members who impersonate staff immediately; scams damage trust in the brand.

Suggested bots

  • Discrofy: Builds this layout and runs AutoMod, moderation and community analytics from a dashboard.
  • A ticket bot: Private support threads for billing and account issues that should not be public.
  • A status page or RSS feed webhook: Posts incidents to #status automatically.

Build it in about a minute

Discrofy creates every category, channel, role and permission above in your server, then posts the rules. It only adds, so existing channels are kept, and you can undo the build from your dashboard. Your first build each month is free.

Frequently asked questions

How do customers get the Customer role?+

Either give it by hand after checking an order, use a bot that verifies a license key, or use a checkout platform with a Discord integration that assigns roles on purchase.

Should support be in Discord or a help desk?+

Both work together. Use #support for quick public questions others can learn from, and move billing or account issues to email or a ticket so private data stays private.

Can customers see the Team category?+

No. It is hidden from everyone except Founder, Team, Support and Community Manager through category permissions.

Is Discord professional enough for a business?+

Many software companies run their communities on Discord. A clear structure, a hoisted staff role and a quick support response matter more than the platform.
